Last night was the much anticipated photo show! We had a successful outcome and turnout and a lot of fun. I'm excited for the next one!
Kayla, Martin, Alli, Jessika, Emilio, me, Cara
My artist statement:
"I have always been drawn to the human figure in art for as
long as I can remember. Even as a child I drew more people than any other
subject. I enjoy portraits and have recently wanted to photograph children. This
challenge has turned into a fascination with children and I have become more
interested in the child’s back-story and their life at home. I am interested in
how children are raised, who raises them, and how it affects their
personalities and behaviors. I believe that the very early stages of a person’s
life are crucial because it is the time when they are most influenced by their
caregiver(s) rather than their peers. I am exploring how this relationship can
be represented through photographs.
This
photo documentation follows a dozen children from the ages of 1 to 4 in their
home or in a place they call home. Interactions between caregivers and
children, siblings, and friends are shown. The environments in which these
children live and play are addressed as well, as these details reveal more
about the subjects’ nature."

your photos look awesome! i really admire how you were able to get close enough to these people and to get such candid, meaningful photos! that isn't easy to do.
ReplyDeleteWow I really like looking at these! Your photographs of the children are beautiful and I especially like the second one there, it has a really interesting composition and atmosphere. I'm also liking the work of your classmate, Kayla Carroll. That one of the TV is gorgeous. Congrats on the show!

I just found your blog so in a sense I just met you but this post made me so excited!!! Your first art show, how awesome! Your photos look amazing, I really have no idea how you did it because I think kids are THE hardest subject to photograph.
ReplyDeleteSuper happy for you-nice work! =)
