4. Seashell bras are too mainstream for hipster mermaids.

Twirly Skirt

This skirt is the best for twirling.

When I got home from work on Saturday, I found this cookie drawn on the door and walked into a clean living room. 10 points for Ryan! Does anyone recognize the cookie from this Threadless tee?

Ryan (unintentionally) snuck up on me while taking photos. He didn't realize the camera was still taking pictures, so I snuck in a little kiss.

Tinsel in the Sky

There's nothing like watching fireworks with someone you love.

You guys. Fireworks are one of my all time most favorite things. It's like I forget how awesome they are each year. So many ooh and aahs and gasps and "that's so cool!"s came from my mouth while watching this fireworks show. Geniuses invented fireworks.

Happy :)

The night ended pretty tragically though. Near the end of the show something flew into my eye. It hurt so bad. I couldn't figure out what it was. I could not open my eye. I cried... And I missed the big finale! My favorite part. It was pretty annoying because we parked what seemed like a mile away from the field, and Ryan had to lead me through crowds of people while I was temporarily blind. I felt so embarrassed. When we finally got home I flushed my eye out in the kitchen sink, over and over again. Ryan helped a ton, and we ended up laughing a lot, especially when he accidentally poured water all over my face and into my ear. After 20 minutes, he finally found the smallest black demon of a speck in my eye and fished for it with a q-tip. How could something that tiny cause so much pain?
I feel so grateful for Ryan and his kindess.
(I guess this is a silly story, but whatever!)

This firework is dedicated to Miss Katniss Everdeen.

Beverly the Riveter

I hope everyone had an enjoyable Independence Day :) Here's what I wore to the fireworks show.

Ryan says I look like Rosie the Riveter when wearing this dress, hence the title of this post.

I found this dress at the new thrift store across the street from our apartment. $5! Since it's a new store, they haven't got too much to look at, but I'm sure that with time the place will be full of gems. I hope! I actually cut off 10 inches from the hem of this dress, and it's a little roomy on top, but that's ok with me.

Sorry that the quality of these photos aren't the best. I suppose that I should have taken these earlier in the day. The firework photos will be up later today.

Rain on My Parade

We attended the Electrical Light Parade last night to kick off Independence Day. It rained. A lot. Which is pretty great for the desert. I had never been to this parade, but I knew not to expect too much, and I was right in doing so, haha. Little city parades are never too exciting, but we had fun nonetheless.

It was New Mexico's 100th birthday yesterday! What an outrageous cake.

An actual torch for a hot air balloon. It was super warm even from where we were standing.

Tribute to Roswell?

Ryan was soaking wet.

Holly and Ronnie.

So, it was an experience.

This morning we went to a Fourth of July breakfast at church, and tonight we'll watch fireworks at the park. Hopefully it doesn't rain as much as it did last night. There's a 40% chance, but it's looking more like a 60% chance!

Happy 4th :)

God Bless 'MERICA!

Patriotic songs have been in my head all weekend. I've had this outfit in mind to wear the Sunday before The Fourth for a couple of months now. Gosh I love this red skirt. I thought about wearing my white belt with this, but I thought that it might have been overkill? So I decided to do without it.

I don't know if I've ever been too patriotic, but I've always loved Independence Day. And dressing in the flag's colors is something that I've always kind of tried to avoid... So I don't know why I've had such a change of heart. Whatever, change is good.

On another note, Ryan has been looking into getting a smart phone. One for me too :) He has been researching like craaaaazy. See, even though we've been married for 1.5 years, we're still both on our parents' plans. So now we have to decide which service is best for us. Verizon? Sprint? T-Mobile? And which type of smart phone is better. iPhone? Droid? So far we've been looking into T-Mobile a lot ('cause it's cheaper than Verizon). They don't have the iPhone (boo), but after watching a "drop test" video on Youtube between the iPhone and the Galaxy S II, well, I guess I'd rather have the latter phone. (I've gotta say, that Galaxy phone does seem like a beast.) All smart phones are about the same anyway, right? I've always considered myself an Apple fan, but it's not the end of the world if I don't get an Apple phone.

Do any of you, my lovely readers, have a smart phone? Which do you have? What do you like about it?

I can't believe I scored this unicorn pin for $1. It is perfect.

And before I forget,
HAPPY CANADA DAY!
