Boy, it's been a WHILE since I last blogged. Where do I even begin? I mean, nothing major has happened in the last two months. I'm just constantly adjusting to life with these two kids- they're always changing, always growing. Most days I feel guilty that Gwen watches too much TV and I'm not paying enough attention to her while I'm tending to Fox and/or trying to clean or cook. I have to remind myself that our life won't always be this way. Eventually Fox will become less dependent from me. I guess I have an excuse for having a messy house, but it still doesn't make me feel any better about it. I'm thankful for these photos that my friend Lydia took of us. I know that I will look fondly at these little captured moments in the future.
Gwen has warmed up immensely towards Fox. She likes to crawl into the bed after he's had a nap, but more often she'll wake him up from said nap and I'll need to get him back to sleep, so as to not have a cranky baby in twenty minutes. This happens a lot. Fox smiles at her. He smiles at everyone. I love this age, except that he's getting more distracted when we try to put him to bed and he's not sitting up yet. He's getting there! He's teething, I suspect, because he puts everything right into his mouth and he's drooling like there's no tomorrow. He's five months old. He reaches for anything I'm holding.
We're on the cusp of potty training Gwen. I knew that before I became a mother that I would DREAD potty training. The whole thing sounds frustrating so I've kind of been avoiding it. She'll be three years old in three months. She might be able to learn quickly, but I'm waiting until Ryan has time off from work (maybe a three day weekend where we can solely focus on potty training) to help me out. She loves Finding Dory and Moana. She likes to color, but more specifically, she likes to watch me draw. She requests that I draw all forms of ocean life- octopi, jelly fish, sharks, angler fish, etc. I think for her birthday we'll have an "under the sea" theme. She likes to sing and is specific about the songs we sing to her before she falls asleep. She is mostly sweet, but curious. We're learning to share with baby brother. She's good about it half the time and likes to hand him toys. She has recently been interested in watching me apply makeup and has snuck into my makeup bag a few times to try it for herself. She's still a little book worm.
I spend a lot of time in this chair.
