DIY Autumn Wreath

We're still waiting around for fall weather here in Phoenix, so in the meantime while we're watching everyone else through social media living in an autumn wonderland, we've just got to make our own. Autumn leaves are scarce in Phoenix, but that's to be expected with all of our cacti, palm trees, and palo verde trees. When I had the idea to make an autumnal wreath my first thought was to buy fake flowers/foliage to adorn it. Upon further thought I decided against it because I think synthetic fall foliage just looks so out of place here, you know? These felt leaves I made are a happy medium.

A few things I didn't mention in the video:

- I made these felt leaves from stencils I made myself, but I'm sure you could probably find ready made felt leaves at a craft store.

- You can make the leaf stencils from cardboard or card stock, too.

- The straw wreath can be found in the fake flower section.

- When wrapping the yarn around the hoop wreath, don't worry too much about any little gaps where you can see the straw underneath. You can go back after the first layer of yarn and wrap it a couple more times to cover up any gaps.

- You can use any color yarn or felt! Red, orange, yellow, brown, and green are all good fall colors.

- Notice my wardrobe change in the video? That's because it took a couple of days to film this! I started too late on the first day and ended up losing daylight, haha.

- Recording your voice for a video is annoying and cringeworthy. Next time I need to write myself a script, honestly.

I Love Shopping for Kids' Clothes

My mom gave me a few coupons to use at the Children's Place for Gwen's birthday (which I still need to blog about, by the way... oops!) so I went wild. "Clothing Hauls" on You Tube are one of my favorite types of videos to watch, so I thought I'd give it a try. If you're only interested in seeing what I bought for Gwen and the new baby then you only need to watch the first 10 minutes- after that I share some maternity clothes I've recently found.

Baby #2- Bumpdate 3

Annoying symptoms: heartburn/acid reflux almost every night. Sleeping is a little more difficult, but at least I don't have the urge to pee all night! (Yet...) Cravings: Cheeseburgers. The only time I'll eat beef is if it's an In-N-Out burger. I've only had a couple this pregnancy, but it's a funny craving for someone who usually only eats chicken or turkey. Baby movement: Lots of movement! Ryan felt him kick for the first time a few weeks ago. The baby has nudged Gwen a lot while I'm holding her against my belly, but she hasn't mentioned or realized that it's the baby. Weight gain: about 20 pounds. Looking forward to: my baby shower! My kind friends from church want to throw one for me next month! I'm in need of baby boy clothes.

Minnesota

We went to Minnesota a couple of weeks ago! My sister-in-law had herself a baby, so we had to see the fresh, new family. If you've ever gone to visit a family with a newborn, you'll know that most of your time is spent staring at the new baby, relaxing with the family, and helping out in any way that is needed. We did a lot of this but we also got out a few times, too, which was nice because us Arizona dwellers were finally able to enjoy the outdoors without melting our faces off. What a concept!

I brought my DSLR on this trip but you'd hardly know it because these are the only two photos to show for it. Fail. I did a good job at taking photos with my phone and Instax camera, though! You can see more photos on my IG feed!

What we did:

-We went to the Minnesota state fair and ate all the food! It was a lot of walking so my sister-in-law and I were pretty worn out the next day, her being postpartum and I being 23 weeks pregnant.

-We watched Stranger Things! The second time for Ryan and I, but it was fun watching it with people that are new to the show.

-We went on a couple of walks and it wasn't that humid.

-We went to the Children's Museum which was fun for Gwen, but I personally like the one we have in Mesa, better.

-We went to visit this cute little zoo! It was free admittance! I'm a little sad that we arrived 30 minutes before they closed because Gwen was really enjoying herself. I did manage to make a short video of our zoo visit. When we come back to visit, I'll make sure we hit up this place again.

Almost forgot to mention! Our niece's newborn photos are just gorgeous! Looking at them just makes me feel warm and happy! See for yourself.

Baby #2- Bumpdate 2

A couple of weeks late, but here is a pregnancy update at 20 weeks! I share my excitement of having a boy and my nervousness about making the decision on whether or not to circumcise. Fun stuff....

Baby #2: Gender Reveal

We are so excited for this baby to come!

This video isn't exactly what I had envisioned, but I came close enough! I ended up giving Gwen a few mini cupcakes in the process of icing cupcakes and shooting this video so that she'd stay in her high chair and be occupied. We've had too much sugar today.... Does anyone want to take all this cake off our hands?

Baby #2- First "Bumpdate" Video

I've wanted to document this pregnancy in a different way than my last pregnancy- with video updates! I personally feel like it's more fun to watch someone talk about their pregnancy than to read about it. I apologize for the length of this video! It's the first one in my little series and I share how I found out about this pregnancy, plus Gwen kept distracting me. But if you like really chatty videos, like I do, then you'll probably enjoy watching this. I promise I'll be more structured in the next videos and actually answer all the official bumpdate questions. The next video will probably be a gender reveal!

Please feel free to ask me any questions you'd like for me to answer about my pregnancy. It's always more fun to answer questions from my friends than it is to follow the meme.

Camping in Cloudcroft

I've been wanting to take Gwen camping for a while. Now was the best time to do it because I'll soon be too large and uncomfortable to want to camp, and there's no way I'd want to camp with a newborn, so we took advantage of this small window of time that we have.

We arranged a camping trip with our family in New Mexico since I knew we wouldn't see most of them until after Christmas when the baby is born. It was wonderful to get out of this Arizona heat for a few days! Gwen loved climbing up and down the hill were we on. She fell countless times (nothing too serious!) and ended up with a ton of bruises and a few scrapes on her legs, but this relentless toddler didn't cry about it once. She was too busy exploring to care.

Enjoy the short video of some of my favorite moments from this trip!

FLOG 3: Favorite Places

First off, this video is almost a week late! Oops. I had grand ideas for this FLOG prompt. I took my DSLR to a couple of my favorite places to film some clips, but when it came down to it, I felt like such a weirdo filming in public. I wish I were more brave about that kind of thing!! I did get a few clips from those attempts, but decided it wasn't enough to make an interesting video.

It's true that one of my favorite places is my living room, but mostly when it's clean. My original idea was to film a kind of "living room tour" showcasing all of my favorite details of the room, but my living room was such a mess! And I had already procrastinated too long to tidy, dust, vacuum, and organize my mess of a bookshelf, and then finally film it. I was running out of daylight and I had to prepare for our road trip/camping trip on top of that! So here's what you get: a sped up video of me cleaning said mess. #reallife

This is actually only from one clip. I had a second clip where I vacuumed and dusted, but it never imported? It's all good though, since this video is boring, anyway, and making it a little longer would make it a snooze fest.

P.S. Did anyone participating in this challenge make a video for prompt 3? I'm checking Riley's blog now and find nothing? lol

FLOG Video 2: "Three to One"

For the second FLOG prompt we were challenged to create three different outfits that showcased one piece of clothing. I had a really hard time thinking of what to wear for this and thought maybe of skipping this video. I felt like to do this challenge well, I needed to involve layers in the different outfits, and that is NOT a possibility for someone dealing with 100+ degree temps on the daily. I was explaining my dilemma on Snapchat and my genius friend Lydia suggested that I do swimwear! Specifically swimsuit cover-ups. It's very practical for this time of year as we all want to wear as little clothing as possible.

Finding these cover-ups was a little difficult considering that I'm 16 weeks pregnant. I feel like I won't be able to wear most of these for very long! Enjoy this video of me squeezing in and out of these clothes. Which ensemble is your favorite?

FLOG Video 1: "Recipe"

Hello! Welcome to my first video of the FLOG (four vlogs) challenge. As you can see, I opted out of making a recipe video because I may not have the patience for it, but also I hate the lighting in my kitchen. If you've ever been curious about the Graze subscription box, then please enjoy this video!

Make sure to check out the other videos for the challenge here, and please join us if you'd like to make a few videos this month, too!

Favorite Movies

I'm back with another video. If you like talking about movies, watch this! I've watched a couple of these types of videos and wanted to give it a shot because I love movies! Watching movies may be my number one, favorite thing to do. My mom has always had a huge movie collection and she loved taking us to the theaters as we were growing up.

Sorry the video is kind of long, but there were lots of movies to talk about!

p.s.! I'll be participating in this again and I'm pretty excited! Get on the bandwagon!

Butterflies in Motion

More butterflies! I enjoyed putting this video together, but I'm kind of sad about how short it turned out! I wanted to film more while we were there, but Gwen was getting very tired and grumpy so we decided to go home earlier than I would have liked to. I've watched this a ton of times because I just find it so relaxing. I hope you enjoy!

21 Day Fix- week three

I finally uploaded it! And you all probably forgot about it. I don't blame you.

I talk about my weight loss and things I can improve for the next time I take on the 21 Day Fix. Thanks for following along!

21 Day Fix- Week 2

Has my blog completely transformed into a fitness blog? Maybe for the time being. I've probably said this before, but I never ever pictured myself doing something like this... And I'm glad that I am an ever changing human being! In this video I talk about my new favorite "dessert" and I compare Shakeology and Vega One.

This Sunday is the last day of the challenge! Holy heck. I'll be sharing my overall experience with this program and how many inches I've lost (if any) in the third and final video.

21 Day Fix- Week One

I kept forgetting to post this video to the blog! But here it is. I still need to film Week 2, even though we're in the middle of Week 3, the last week! See, I tried filming it yesterday while Gwen was awake, but that proved to be very difficult for me to try and focus on my thoughts and Gwen at the same time. It was a mini disaster, haha. So hopefully I'll get it done during nap time today!!

10 Day Tune-Up Conclusion

This video turned out a little longer than I wanted it to. Yo, it's so hard for me to make shorter videos! It's something I need to improve on. Anyway! Here are my thoughts about the 10 Day Tune Up. I also share my thoughts about the 21 Day Fix that I'm starting this week! Yes, you read that correctly. I'm not sure I believe myself. I am nervous and excited to share a few more vlogs about my experience with that.

Last Day of Fitness Challenge

Hey! This is so late!!! Sorry. The 10 Day Tune Up challenge that I was participating in ended a few weeks ago, and every time I'd try to upload this video YouTube decided to be stubborn with the upload speed. But here it is! I feel like I hardly talk about the challenge or my meals in this one, but it might be fun to watch just as a plain old vlog. Fun fact: About 80% of this vlog was just me complaining about mom stuff- I edited so much out. You're welcome.

I've just filmed my conclusion video, so you can look forward to watching that soon, if you're into this kinda thing.

Fitness Challenge, Days 3-5

Hey! If you're interested in how this fitness challenge I participated in played out, give these videos a watch. I ended up only filming days 1-5, and then took a break from vlogging until the last day, day 10. I'll be posting that video soon. I'm thinking of making a more formal video about what I learned about myself during the challenge, how I feel physically/emotionally, future goals, etc.

Exercise? Diet??

The horror!

Yup. I'm taking part in a "10 Day Tune Up" challenge. It's actually almost over, but I've been slow about getting these videos edited and posted. I am definitely not the type of person to do this type of thing, but I felt compelled when my friend added me to her Facebook group. Thanks, Mae! Here are the first two days of the challenge!
