Thanks, Storm.

So it's 'bout time I blog about this.
Last Friday afternoon there was a crazy and powerful rainstorm. It lasted for about 10 or 15 minutes, but boy was it crazy. This is what happened:

Everything was all quiet and peaceful-like until it wasn't, and then we heard a huge thump on the roof. Yeah, the overhang flipped backward onto the roof. At least it didn't land on a car parked beneath it. At the other end of the walkway we noticed that that side had been wrecked as well. Much worse, actually. Everyone was calling the landlady and she showed up at our front step asking if we were alright or if there was any internal damage to the apartment. We didn't have any problems. Thankfully.

Later that evening we visited with Ryan's parents and when we came home (around midnight) the lot was empty. A security guard greeted us with the news that there was a lot of water damage and they had shut off the electricity and plumbing. They had asked everyone in the building to sleep elsewhere. So we grabbed some stuff and back to the in-laws we went.

And here we remain.

It wasn't until yesterday that the landlady called us with an estimate as to when we can live there again. About two weeks. She gave us the option of moving out and getting our deposit back in full or waiting it out and not being charged for the two weeks. I think we're going with the latter. Our rent is cheap for a two bedroom apartment and  I hate moving and if we were to move into a one bedroom apartment there wouldn't be enough room for all our crap. So that's what's goin' down.

In other, much more exciting news, my sister-in-law's boyfriend just recently got baptized this past Saturday. I wasn't able to attend because of work, so I made Ryan take pictures for me :)

They're made for each other, I'm sure.
Papa-in-law and Sam.
Audrey, Sam, and his parents.

Now I gotta get a bunch of homework done! See ya.

So I've got good news and bad news. Which would you like to hear first? Whatever it may be, I'm cracking the bad news first. (I always like hearing good news last.)
The bad news: We're not going to be having internet at our apartment much longer. September 3rd will be the last day. This means it might be a little quiet here on the blog. I can't have the knowledge of random facts or recipes or do homework that requires these things in the comfort of my own home.
The good news: We're not going to be having internet at our apartment much longer. No more distractions! I'll feel more motivated to clean this house and do more creative things with my time! Not to mention write more in my journal. I've been so preoccupied with this blog that I haven't opened my actual journal for a while. Plus, there's internet all over the place at school.
Shirt, skirt, belt: thrifted
Sandals (why yes, these are my new favorite): Walmart

Sunday Best

This is what I wore to church today.
Skirt: thrifted, vintage
Shirt: H&M
Cardigan: thrifted
Shoes: Payless
Necklace: gift from momma
I wasn't sure on whether wearing a necklace with a peter pan collar was acceptable in the fashion world or not, but it looks snazzy to me. My mom gave me this pearl necklace to wear on my wedding day :) They aren't real pearls, but I love this necklace just as much as if it were made of real ones. They just seem to class things up a bit.

My first full length week of school starts tomorrow. It begins with a painting class at 8:30 am.
Oh. Boy.
I don't know how excited I am for this class. As in, I don't know if I'll like it all too much. The only paints I've used are acrylic and watercolor (neither of which I'm very good at), and this class is entirely in oils. Who knows though... I might love it?

On another note: art classes are messy. And because of this I don't know how inspired I'll be to wear anything cute to school. Then again, I could wear an apron. Never mind, problem solved :)

Two blog posts in one day? Yes, I know.
I just wanted to compile some photos from my favorite memories this summer.
Here are my favorite outfits I put together:

It was much too bright to take photos outside this morning.
It felt kind of good to wake up early for a change. Let's see how I'll feel about that next week though.
